You need to Get Rid of The “Permalink” Link

As I have stated it in my different posts that bloggers and website owners are using different techniques to design their blogs and webistes. One of the common desinging practice and method is the use of Permalink. Until a few years ago, most blogs and blogging platforms used to display a “Permalink” link on the meta section below each post. Some blogs still do it and using this permalink, like Seth Godin‘s one. I think that this trend emerged from the fact that whan blogs used to have a standard look and appearance. They want to appeare with full posts being displayed on the homepage. As a consequence, some beginner bloggers and webmasters would wrongly link to the homepage expecting to link to one specific post.
For the purpose of solving this problem, most of the people came with the “Permalink” link. Basically a link that would point to the single and definitive URL of any specific post inside the blog. As I personally feel that bloggers should get rid of them, because “Permalinks” are obsolete these days. Basically there are two main reasons for this,
The first of all because blogs and blogging profession have evolved a lot over the last few of years. And it is the main reason that we have all sorts of formats around today. There are a large number of blogs that are using only excerpts on the homepage, others blogs are using the style of a magazine and some are using some others. This makes the “Permalink” link less useful and universally recognizable.
Second and the most important reason is that, even back in the day when all blogs displayed full posts on the homepage, those “Permalinks” were pretty much redundant information. That is because the title of each post would also link to the single and definitive URL of that post inside the blog, so why would we need a second link for that very same function? Therefore, I suggest that you need to get rid of the permalink link.
