Energy crisis

Energy crisis began in Pakistan immediately after president Musharaf lift the scene in 2008. The crises in the homeland are very much deep rooted. It began with the increase in oil prices in the world market. The prices of oil products surged basically due to political instability in Iraq and Iran and also due to OPEC refusal to increase its daily oil extraction. Saudi Arabia also declined a parallel offer. The growing economies like China, America and India also increased its oil consumption which brought about this unprecedented increase in oil prices. $ 120 per barrel was never witnessed in history. The catastrophe was caused however by many additional factors as well.

Crop failure in Pakistan was one among those factors which added fuel to fire. This problem was caused by disturbance n rain pattern, high prices of fertilizers, treated seeds and consequent high prices of the products.

Another reason was government’s ignorance, which failed to produce even a single unit of power generation. Mr. Musharaf continuously collected charities from national and international donors and at the end said it all belongs to me and went away. His follower Zardari, Mr. ten percent, also proved to be never better than him and locked his horns with judiciary from the very scratch and still utilizes all state assets, like his predecessor, for self protection ruthlessly and reigns without any raison-de-etr. The present set up, covered in a democratic shed, totally ivaned to carry its words regarding the dead lines it claimed will bring about an end to energy crisis. Its efforts of bringing Aegean’s stabiles to energy sector through IPPs and RPPs also ended in a smoke.

To overcome the problem the government worked out another strategy to close markets early in evening, two holidays a weak, and controlling irrational use of power. The government also announced closing air condition plants in presidency and Prime Minister House. But plan did not carry any fruit. Therefore strict measures must be taken to overcome this crisis, and to meet the requirements of energy in the future. If this is not solved on immediate basis it can damage the economy of the whole country in the near future.
The following suggestions are given below, can provide best solutions for it, if strictly followed,
(1) Construction of large Dames:
The construction of big dames like Basha, Zabul, and other small scale dames on emergency basis, in this case the technical assistance can be obtained from our close and nieboure friend China, which is already engaged in different projects in Pakistan.
(2) Construction of Small dames:
Immediate steps should be taken to build small scale hydle projects on different headwork to generate small amount of electricity that can be provided to the nearby peoples, and can meet their demands. In this way the load on the main system will decreased.
(3) Nuclear energy:
Franc generating about 80% of its electricity from Nuclear power plants and only 20% from other sources, if France can do it, why we can’t do it. Therefore a strict attention should be made in this sector, and again China can provide us this technology and our own scientists can also assists us in this main sector. It should be valuable and will provide energy for long term in the future. In spite of China France and other countries can also provide assistance in this sector.
(4) Ther coal desert:
Another main important side is the “Ther coal desert”. In this area about 172 billions tons of coal is present here. Therefore if we properly utilize it, it would give enormous amount of energy and will not only overcome the shortage of electricity in our country but we would be in a position to sell out it to other countries and earn huge scale of revenue in the future.
(5) Solar energy:
Another important step is God gifted free source of energy is our “Sun”, (in other words it is called solar energy) when our scientist work on it and the facilities is provided to them, we hope that they would be able to generate electricity from it. This would be a very easy way of generating energy. And our electricity requirements would be overcome from it. Therefore the government must provide attention toward this side in order to minimize the loadsheding in the future.
(6) Biogas source:
The government should help the peoples, especially the formers to form their own plant of biogas in order to minimize the load on the main fields of gas. The government should provide the technical support and to some extent financial support (if applicable) to the public, with this government assistance the peoples would be able to construct their own plant, and their basic requirements would be meet very easily from their own plants. If this project is succeeded, a very heavy load will be removed on the main fields of gas. With this project the supply of gas would be more to the industries and they would generate more and more products, as a result the contribution in GDP would be more from industrial side.
